Well Texas did it, they bowed up and showed some toughness. It was an impressive win, I'll give them credit. They're 3-0 in conference, so maybe they're not so crazy after all that they can win the conference. I need to see it for more than one week though. Let's see how they handle a very tough TCU defense.

K-State again played well enough to win, and made enough mistakes to lose. The biggest two mistakes in my opinion, came very early in the game.
First, K-State had Baylor stopped for fourth down and likely FG attempt on the first possession of the game, but ended the play with a late hit out of bounds that kept the drive alive and Baylor scored 7.
On the ensuing possession, K-State had a fourth and 1 at the Baylor 9 yard line. Against any other team, I'm certain Bill Snyder would have chosen to kick, but he didn't. The 'Cats didn't convert, and this decision ultimately cost them the game. There you have it.... Bill Snyder cost his team the win. Had they made the FG there, they would never have been chasing 2-point conversions (in the 3rd quarter? seriously?) and they would have been ahead late, completely changing the way it was played.
Texas could win the conference.... no, really.
Turnovers gave Kansas hope on the road, but man they really are bad.

Every other QB looked like Vince Young against Texas except OU's Belldozer. One cool quote from the announcer during the game, "The underdog is howling in Dallas" Texas is already past two of its toughest opponents (historically speaking) KSU and OU Texas will most likely lose next week at TCU

For the second week in a row, K-State got an "oops, our officials screwed up" letter from the conference. After playing at Oklahoma State, the letter said, "oops. Daniel Sams didn't really fumble the ball on the OSU 20 yard line, when you were up by four points and looking to grow the lead. And, Oops! J.W. Walsh really should have been penalized for intentional grounding when he spun away from a defender, in the pocket, long enough to fling the ball at an offensive lineman, with no eligible receiver around and not crossing the line of scrimmage."
This week it was, "oops, the Baylor wide receiver that put a hard block up at the neck level of your defensive back, who was knocked silly and didn't return to the game, should have been penalized for 'targeting'. But we've corrected that issue by suspending said receiver for a half against Iowa State."
Grrrr!

The win over OU continues to feel good even after several days. Can't believe Texas fans were missing this feeling for the last several years while OU was probably taking it for granted. ;D

Texas is not consistent enough to win the conference. TCU is a difficult matchup for them, they have a mobile QB and a very tough defense. Mobile QB's have eaten Texas' lunch this season, and their offense has been erratic. Perhaps the win over OU gives Texas the fire and momentum they were missing before, maybe it gets them rolling, but I'll believe it when I see it.
The Tech-ISU game last week was very peculiar. The final score was 42-35, but it was just as close to a 52-14 win for Tech as it was a win for Iowa State. Tech had 600+ yards of offense to about 250 for Iowa State. Iowa State only had 2 bona fide drives to score a touchdown, one of which was against a prevent defense when Tech was just trying to guard against a big play. So how does Iowa State keep the game so close? One kickoff return for a TD, one interception at the 20 yard line, and one shanked punt that literally dropped out of the sky and grazed the back of a Tech blocker who had no clue the ball was there and ISU took over at the 20 again. Three easy touchdowns that they hardly even had to work for. Against a more talented team than Iowa State, Tech would've been severely punished for those mistakes, but they were able to completely shut down ISU outside of these mistakes. Give three cheap TD's to any other team in the conference and you're not going to win.

Not hating, but only Texas and OU have decent wins so far. Baylor and Tech haven't played anybody and showed weaknesses against rebuilding conference teams. It's a wide open race where winless conference teams can beat aspiring conference champs.

Texas Tech has to be the worst undefeated team in the country. I don't yet believe they're even a real contender in the conference. The Raiders are however a 'lynchpin' game for K-State, as a win in Lubbock will likely secure they're bowl eligibility and a loss could take that away.
The conference has never been this bad.... ever, period. I know it's not been this bad since it was the Big 12, and I don't know when the Big 8 would have ever been so bad.
Texas isn't good, just go back to BYU and Ole Miss..... and yet' they're undefeated in the conference with wins over KSU and OU, two teams who have at least been competitive elsewhere in the conference. And again, barely beat (did they really?) ISU.
Oklahoma State just can't be good if they lost to West Virginia who really laid some eggs in the non-con.
We know K-State isn't good, but they've been right in the game with three of the better teams (BU, OSU and UT).
So, who is good? Maybe Baylor?

I wouldn't say Tech is the worst undefeated team in the country. Northern Illinois and Fresno State are in that group too, and I think Tech is better than them. Also, Missouri and Miami both have better wins than Tech, beating Georgia and Florida respectively, but I think Tech is matches up well against them. Tech has done some good things this year. The defense has been extremely stout and the offense has been as good as could be hoped. The only downside is that they've been sloppy from time to time.
I said it a few weeks ago and it's still true. The problem in the conference is QUARTERBACKS!!! Only one team, Baylor, has one. It's no coincidence that the only team doing anything that remotely resembles ass kicking is the same team that actually has a QB! Several teams don't have one at all (KU, ISU, WVU, TCU) and several other teams can't decide on one (Tech, OSU, Texas, OU). There's talent at the position on all but about two of these teams, but there's no experience or veteran presence. They need time to develop.

Texas win over OU could indeed be a fluke. There was that win over Nebraska by Texas in recent memory too. At least for now I can still enjoy the highlights one more time ;D

I agree about the QBs. For a league that was ahead in the spread and qbs we have become an also ran. Main problem as I see it is "speed kills". OU and KSU just look much slower. KU and Texas have been slow for years. I don't see how we compete against the SEC for these elites. The media just feeds these boys a constant dose of SEC and they want to be a part of it. Huge fast interior linemen and ends are very scarce and Stoops and Snyder seem to have not been able to crack it in any significant way. Briles understood earlier and now has speed to burn.
