Sorry, I haven't been around in awhile. I didn't get to brag on the absolutely historic year that was had by the K-State Athletic Department.
2012 Big 12 Football Champions 2013 Big 12 Basketball Champions 2013 Big 12 Baseball Champions
3MAW!
By the way, the football team had the fewest turnovers in the conference. The basketball team had the fewest turnovers in the conference, and the baseball team had the fewest errors in the conference.

In European soccer, they call a season like that "Winning the Treble". It doesn't happen all that often, but it's a pretty special season when it does.

I believe it has happened 4 times now in the BCS era. Twice this year with K-State and Louisville.
Louisville's was an impressive feat, but watered down compared to Texas and Stanford's accomplishment.

Hope you've gotten all you can out of it. Looks like it's going to be a rough football season.

This is why you don't leave a game against the two-time FCS national champions on the schedule.

This is why you don't leave a game against the two-time FCS national champions on the schedule. Definitely a bad team to have on the schedule, especially with as much turnover as KSU was dealing with. Much of this NDSU team is seniors, who played as freshman in Lawrence in 2010. They're an incredibly experienced, disciplined team. I believe K-State had plenty of opportunity to win, but made more costly mistakes than the Bison, and coaches were too stubborn in trying to be balanced offensively. 29 pass attempts for 280 yards and 21 rushes for 43 (including -15 on a botched snap), means it probably should have been more like 35 passes and 15 rushes.

Been a long time since KSU has had that weak of a running game. Snider will make the running game better.

Been a long time since KSU has had that weak of a running game. Snider will make the running game better. That was surprising. I think most people believe that K-State has a very good offensive line. They didn't look good at all on Friday night. I think they may be able to figure it out, quickly. In the meantime, I don't mind seeing Jake Waters throw 40 times in a game.

The statistic that stands out to me is that KSU only ran 52 plays in the entire game! That's just not enough possession. I didn't see the whole game, but it looked to me like KSU simply couldn't sustain any drives. Their 3 TD's came on big plays. KSU had two drives all game that lasted 7 plays or more, neither produced points. I use 7 plays as a measurement because 6 plays is two full sets of downs, so KSU had two drives all night that moved the chains at least twice. They had 11 possessions in the game, and only a total of 17 first downs. That's simply not moving the ball. 8 of the 11 possessions lasted 5 plays or less. That's barely 2 minutes of the ball before putting your defense right back on the field. That added up over the course of the game, and sure enough, NDSU took advantage of a tired defense with a 8 minute GW touchdown drive.

KSU stalled at the NDSU 30 at least 3 times. Again, in part due to unsuccessful running, and a maintained commitment to the run. T.o.p. Was nearly even until the bisons final, 9-min possession.
Also, NDSU kicked short each time, giving k-state shorter fields.

I don't think it's anything to overly worry about, I chalk it up to sloppy play that is common early in the season. One missed 3rd and short can have a trickle down effect (even if it happens in the 2nd or 3rd quarter), especially in a game that ends up being decided by 3 points. Snyder's teams always have the discipline to know what play needs to be made at specific times in the game, they're great at those hidden plays that win and lose games. They just didn't make them in this game.
