First of all, I don't know why there still is a computer poll after the reason for existence (the championship game) has already been played. Do you check mapquest directions when you're already at your destination? Do you check you recipe when you're sitting down to eat dinner? So why are they adding up computer polls once the championship has been decided?
Secondly, any advanced metric for ranking teams is at the discretion of the person writing the formula. It's going to weigh more heavily on the values the writer feels are more important. Some computer poll mathematicians feel margin of victory is important, others don't. Some feel only wins or losses are important, others feel there's much more to it than that. That's really no different than a human poll, each voter values things differently than others. In the end, the math is the math, the final numbers the formulas crank out are not the point. The bigger point is the math formula being used, how credible is it? Formulas like this lose their credibility.
