K-State had a big day on Dec. 13. Part of which was the commitments of three JC players from Iowa Western. Iowa Western just won the NJCAA National Championship. I believe this is the fourth year they've had a football team. They have 15 players going D-I, and the closest four-year university, Nebraska, made no contact with them at all. I thought that was really odd.
K-State missed out on the biggest name target on their board, Marquel Combs. Combs is a 4* JC DT and is committed to Kansas. I believe this guy's a great athlete, but probably doesn't have a Bill Snyder work ethic.

For obvious reasons, two of our biggest recruits just decommitted after the coaching change. I expect a pretty lean recruiting class this offseason. We had been in the top 25 the past few years, but wont' be this year.

Speaking of recruiting, Texas A&M has clearly gotten the memo from the SEC. They have 34 commitments! So they have definitely thrown their recruiting ethics out the window with their move to a new conference.

KU is putting together a terrefic recruiting class especially for a 1-11 team. Maybe its because we havent seen Charlie Weis recruit before. The Jayhawks went head to head with KSU for a couple of recruits (Combs and Jenkins-Moore) and came out on top. I think its a combination of factors that have led to KU's recruiting success (especially over KSU). 1. Kansas can offer lots of immediate playing time. 2. Kansas is the only Big 12 team not preparing for a bowl game, so every assistant is out recruiting full time. 3. Recruits are starting to think about the possibility of ending up playing for Sean Snyder in a year or two.
