[ Yay only one mid-major game this time in pick'em ;D #ingrate Agreed. USC vs. Notre Dame should have gotten some consideration.

wow, you all laid some serious points on Texas. You all need to knock the mystique about UT's recruiting out of your heads. Against any decent defense that can slow the running game down, they are horrible. KSU is going to hurt them bad next week.

I don't know about everyone else, but I for one never really think of Texas recruiting when making my picks. I was just going by their recent "rise".

I read a good article on smart football.com a little while back about what makes Oregons offense so good. It's not that they're always in the hurry up or their offensive scheme. It's their communication system and the way they've completely structured their whole program around it. They practice in the hurry up and communicate in practice with those flip cards so its completely ingrained in ther minds. All their coaching is done in the film room, the practice field is for repetition. Not every team operates that way obviously, but the tops teams that reload talent every year and don't miss a beat have a 100% buy in to the program from the top down. In our conference, Kansas State has that. So does Oklahoma State, TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma. Texas doesn't have that, nor does Tech. There are communication breakdowns, players and coaches not on the same page. Their talent just can't overcome that. Football used to be about just having better players, it's not anymore. No team has enough talent to win on talent alone anymore. Texas won't be a national title contender again until they learn that. Texas does still have better players than most teams, they still pose difficult one on one matchups for 10 of the 11 teams on their schedule each year. This isn't the 1970's anymore though, they just can't line up and win games on their talent. I have the same complaint with Tuberville right now, he's recruited better the last three seasons than Tech ever really has, but the results don't show that. We still get overpowered and overrun by teams who (on paper at least) do not over-match us.

Perhaps a win or a good showing by Colorado against Kansas in basketball in a couple of weeks may bring him back for an appearance. Apparently the win over Baylor didn't do the trick.
