This crap just makes me sick. I'm tired of hearing and reading all of the assumptions that Oregon will and should be ahead of K-State.
Does an undefeated Duck team deserve to play in the big game? Yes, they do. But they won't have any more impressive a body of work than an undefeated K-State team.
CBS is running a "blind taste test" so that fans can pick deserving teams based on things like quality wins, SOS, and margin of victory. When you look at the five teams included, K-State will blow you away as being the best of the bunch.
Rant ended. Please share with me your thoughts on the mess.
Rant unended.... why doesn't ESPN have a single on-air talent with ties to Big 12 football?

I'm tired of the sports ignorance being blathered around the airwaves lately. I'm talking about the notion that blowouts are more impressive than close wins. I'm in the same boat as you Lynch because I'm hearing everybody criticizing the Atlanta Falcons and their undefeated record because they supposedly aren't winning impressively enough. People look at close wins as luck, and that if two or three plays didn't bounce their way they would've lost. That's false! Plays go the way they do because there's 11 men on your team busting their ass to make that play go their way instead of the other team's way. Under coach Mike Smith, the Falcons are 27-10 over the last 4.5 years in games decided by a touchdown or less. That's a winning percentage of .730 in close games, that's not luck! Nothing that happens 73% of the time is due to luck. Applying this to Oregon, winning close games is the key sign of toughness and mental resolve, it shows poise and character. Winning all of your games in a blowout the way Oregon does shows none of that because they're never tested. We don't know how Oregon would respond in the 4th quarter of a game because their starters have been sitting on the bench in every 4th quarter so far. I want to see how a team performs with their back against the wall, when things aren't going their way, when the other team takes away their best player, etc. I'm not impressed with a team that wins every game in the 2nd quarter when their opponent quits.

He BCS should be in KSU's favor this week. You got two winnable games left, Baylor and Texas, to et to the national championship. Bama losing is a game changer, it likely shuts the SEC out of the championship race, they'll need two of the unbeaten teams to lose for their champ to get in the title game. Regardless, whether its KSU or Oregon at number 1, KSU has a clear path to the title game. You're gonna have the bright lights and pressure of a number 1 ranked team following you around, so be ready for it.

I just looked @sagarin and if I am looking at it correctly the computer has Alabama still at #1 after the loss.

I believe KSU now has its clear path. Still, I hate having to listen to Holtz and May tell everyone that Notre Dame is more deserving. In case you didn't watch, k-State coasted in Ft. Worth. This KSU team is amazingly well rounded and can win any style of game.

I think it'll be a KSU-UO game in the BCS NC.
SOS would put KSU ahead of both UO and ND.

I think UO is the most likely undefeated to lose a game.
Not to overlook Baylor, but I will, I'd hate to see KSU lose it's control over Texas on 12/1.

Oregon has the most difficult path because they have 3 ranked teams left to play, however those teams are falling in the rankings. Oregon State has been a lot like Mississippi State, started off undefeated and climbed very high in the rankings, but their schedule is backloaded and they started losing once the good teams came around. They should end with 3 losses. Stanford still has UCLA on the schedule after Oregon, they could end with 4 losses. USC still has UCLA and ND, so they could have 5 losses. So all the Pac 12 teams that threaten Oregon's undefeated season have backloaded schedules, they may not be that good in the first place, and they may not boost Oregon's SOS as much as we think.
That season finale against Texas could be the perfect springboard for KSU. They get a marquis opponent who's playing better football. A win against them carries more respect than any other team in the conference, and it's at home. A win there would solidify the championship spot and probably give Klein the Heisman.

Masseyratings.com now gives ND a 37% chance of winning at USC.
I think all those "ranked" Pac-12 teams are over-inflated by playing in their own crappy conference. They're not awful, they're decent teams, but each of them has an inflated record because they have teams like Utah and Colorado in the league.

K-State needs one win to win the conference. Two wins should place the 'Cats solidly into the BCS championship game. I agree that two wins probably also gives Klein the Heisman, provided he plays fairly well in both games.

Klein will get the last word over Manziel in the Heisman race. Manziel had his moment in the spotlight against Alabama, but he has cupcake game this week and a closing game against Missouri, and he won't be playing in the SEC Championship game. By time the Heisman votes are cast, Johnny Football's exploits will be a month in the past, and college football poll/awards voters have the attention span of a gnat.
