After owning Texas and the Big 12 in hoops KU's struggles continue in football conference play. However I am not surprised that KU fans see an opportunity this Saturday against a ranked but struggling Texas team. KU held an explosive OSU team to 20 and did well against TCU as well. They are also starting Cummings at QB who appears to be the fan favorite. There is good reason for optimism on this homecoming game at KU.
Texas may get Malcolm Brown back in this game, but defensively Texas is struggling mightily. The weakness at LB, further amplified due to the loss of Hicks, has allowed opponents to run all over Texas. Running game happens to be KU's offensive strength. All things considered I am picking Texas but this game should be competitive.

I think this game should be competitive for a little while, but talent should come through eventually. I something like 42-21, with Texas pulling away late.

I think KU will be competitive for about 3 quarters, and then the lack of depth will catch up with the Jayhawks. But KU has a chance to pull the upset.

Charlie Weis is clearly smart enough to win this game, just ask him, but he can't overcome the lack of talent, no really.... just ask him.

Doesn't that affect current player morale when a coach says that there is lack of talent What's up with that?

It was crazy some of the things he's said. I think he's trying to tell recruits that he's smart, so you should want to play for him, and that there's plenty of opportunity for quick playing time.
Yes, I think it would negatively effect on morale with current players.

I think that's what ultimately cost him at Notre Dame. He was never able to live down the "decided schematic advantage" remark. There are a lot of coaches around football at all levels who just have this thing, call it an insecurity, where they just have to be the smartest man in the room. When you have that "smartest man in the room" mentality, you're really telling everybody that nothing is ever your fault and things would've worked fine if people would just do what you say. That's all fine and great when things are working, but when they're not people get tired of that reaaaaaal quick!

I have plenty to criticize Weis for, but his brutal honesty isn't one of them. It's not like KU has a talented roster but the coach is just too stupid to use it. Don't get me wrong, we have some good players, but there's just not nearly enough of them. Weis uses this as a recruiting tool. Recruits can come in and not have to sit a couple of years behind more talented players. As for the feelings of the current players, when they play other teams, they see that they don't have the size and speed of their opponents. Weis isn't telling them anything they don't already know.

Herp derp pulls a W for Texas and yet again comes to Mack's rescue. KU played their hearts out and a tough loss for them. There is obviously a pattern at KU to shutdown Big 12 offenses. This win feels much better than how Texas won against Baylor. Good game KU fans. Texas is a second tier Big12 team right now with OSU, Baylor and WVU. KU isn't that far off and just needs a little push further.

Mack Brown is a dead coach walking at this point. He's in his last month of employment. This Texas defense is a walking snuff film. I think Texas has a long month of football ahead of them. They have two likely losses @tech and @kansas State, so their season is going to come down to Iowa State and TCU at home. Two home games against teams that actually play defense. Is 8-4 good enough for Mack to save his job? A last second win at Kansas does not inspire confidence, a 6 point win at home over Baylor does not inspire confidence.
