I know Tech wants their shot at a conference title, but who among you doesn't want to see Bill Snyder play for the crystal ball?!

Kidding aside, yes, I would like to see Kansas State get their title shot. If they take us down this Saturday (and to be honest, I think they will), then I'll be on the KSU bandwagon.
As for my own team, this whole season from here on out is just icing on the cake. My goals coming into the season were A) get back to a bowl game, B) show some promise, improvement and competitiveness for the future (ie, don't quit on the season like last year), and C) get to 8 wins or so and a nice bowl game. So far we got the first two under our belt and I really think we're good for two more wins at least. So games like this one, or next week against Texas, are bonus games that I didn't expect to be winnable at the beginning of the season. Plus, we have a good shot at the Cotton Bowl, which could very well match us up against our ole nemesis Texas A&M (I can't even begin to describe how awesome that would be)! In a nutshell, this has been a fun season that I'd be happy if it ended today. Next year I'll expect more, but for the rest of this season I'm like the guy in Vegas who wins a big hand on the first night and parties off the profits the rest of the weekend!

I think, archi, if your team wins this weekend, your tune will change with regard to the icing on the cake.
After beating OU earlier, I thought the same way of KSU's season.... it's going to be good, better than expected, and the rest is icing.... but NOW.... oh, it's changed.
If Tech wins Saturday, you're fighting through a winnable final four hoping to get your first ever Big 12 Championship.
Ahhh! This game is too big, and too closely matched. I'm nervous as.... well, I'm nervous.

Absolutely, my tune will change if we win this week. Pardon the understatement, but a Big 12 championship would be massive for us, even if it's shared. Tuberville is clearly off the hot seat, but there is still a vocal minority of Team Leachers who still won't shut up, and probably never will (similar to how there will always be a vocal group of Vick-ophants here in Atlanta). A conference championship from Tuberville would take away their very last leg to stand on and close a very ugly chapter in our program's history. It would also expose us to endless conversations about "where will Tuberville be coaching next year", but that's inevitable for a non-name brand program.
Regardless, this is a game I don't expect to win and won't be upset if we lose (as long as it's not by 40). I don't have to be uptight or nervous at all, and I hope the team is the same way.
As for ND and OU, a Sooner loss does help us in the event of the infamous 3-way tie. If the three of us finish with one loss, OU will most definitely be the highest ranked of the three of us because they're the only one of us three who commands national respect in the polls. I have no doubt they will get the tiebreaker if it comes down to BCS standings, so a loss to ND helps our two teams. It would be a double edge sword for KSU though because it weakens their best win and ND would probably gain on KSU in the rankings.

ND is 9-1 against OU. It's about time for OU to start closing this gap (they're doing a decent job against Texas' traditional ownership )

But it appears the practice of touching a sign with this phrase started at Oklahoma, which Notre Dame faces in a battle of Top 10 teams this Saturday night in Norman. This will be the 10th meeting ever between the schools, with the last coming in 1999. According to Berry Tramel of The Oklahoman, legendary Sooners coach Bud Wilkinson hung a sign with the slogan above OU's locker room door as early as 1947. Similar to their Notre Dame counterparts, players touched the sign before heading out onto Owen Field. The current "Play Like a Champion Today" sign in South Bend didn't appear until 1986. Then-coach Lou Holtz said he came across an old picture of a sign with the slogan in a Notre Dame book and decided to have a new one made. It's unclear, however, whether the picture in the book predated Wilkinson's sign, meaning one of Notre Dame's most famous football landmarks might have actually been stolen from Norman. Even more evidence that "Play Like a Champion Today" didn't originate in South Bend? Former 1970s Oklahoma player Sam Muzny emailed Trammel saying that Wilkinson adopted the phrase from his head coach at Minnesota when Wilkinson played for the Golden Gophers in the 1930s. According to Muzny, Minnesota head coach Bernie Bierman would tell his players, "GO OUT THERE AND PLAY LIKE A CHAMPION TODAY!" at the end of his pregame pep talks. If only Bierman would have had the foresight to trademark the phrase.

Clever chant by the Sooners at College Gameday when the topic of K-State came up. "Beat K-State, Beat K-State!" These Sooners understand their place.
